This course is for those who have successfully finished the BWYQ L4 Certificate in Teaching Yoga (RQF) but feel they would like to study more pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy and subtle points in asana to complete their training to the Diploma level.
The course will build on their previous teacher training that would have included yoga anatomy, basic breathing, lesson and course planning and the responsibilities of a yoga teacher. Students's progress will be assessed through written assignments, presentations, microteaching of peers, keeping pranayama and meditation diary, observation of personal classes.
Training Introduction
Open to 300 Hour BWY Certificate holders, the Progression to the Level 4 BWY Yoga Teacher Diploma is a one year course from September 2026-2027. This Progression will follow the Advanced Integration Course (AIC) integration element. The AIC is the new pathway to holding the Level 4 BWY Yoga Teacher Diploma open to 200 Hour trained yoga teachers who begin in March and having completed integration will join the 300 Hour BWY Certificate holders on the Autumn start Progression course.
How the Training Works
The Progression element of the AIC runs one year from September 2026-2027 with in person days in Cambridge blended with Zoom study days. Study covers a year of monthly weekends with in-person Saturday sessions and Zoom sessions on Sundays, with each study day running for four hours (times tbc.)
Specialist Tutors:
The progression element philosophy of Yoga is delivered by the lead tutor Tiffany Thorne who holds a Master of Philosophy in Sanskrit and teaches the texts in depth as well as offering a Scaravelli-inspired yoga teaching approach to Āsana. Sarah O'Connor is our Prānāyāma specialist on the progression course who has delivered highly regarded modules on Yogic Breath practices for the BWY.
Anatomy with Andrew McGonigle MD is studied on the 'Doctor Yogi' 30 hour Online Anatomy course, which can be accessed as self-paced study right from Introductory Day and provided supplementary course material right through the progression element of the course with access to live online learning sessions with Andrew, AKA 'Doctor Yogi.' Students additionally have an in-person summer workshop with our specialist tutor Charlotte Preston who teaches on the integration element and the BWYQ certificate where the nervous system content features. This is a lovely afternoon with our nervous system specialist exploring "Trauma-Informed" yoga teaching.
BWY certificate teachers and newly integrated 200 hour teachers begin the Progression element of the AIC in September 2027, culminating in achieving the Level 4 BWY Yoga Teacher Diploma by end 2027.
