Do you want to inspire and empower the next generation of yogis?

On this module you will gain the skills and confidence to safely teach yoga to young people from ages 2 1/2 to 18.

The module will include:

  • Anatomy and physiology for each age group. 
  • Social, emotional and cognitive development of children and teens.
    Simple neuroscience.
  • How to adapt asanas for safe teaching practice.
  • Breath awareness and simple pranayama exercises for young people.
  • How to teach meditation, mindfulness and relaxation.
  • Ways to plan, structure and manage your children’s yoga classes.
  • Creative ways to engage each age group with yoga.
  • AND MUCH MORE
How the Training Works

The course is designed to develop both your personal and professional practice.  On completion your will have the skills, tools and confidence to teach yoga to children and teens in a safe fun and engaging way.  

You will understand the developmental milestones of each age group and have a toolkit to adapt your teaching for different settings. 

The full course will be held online combining the connection of live Zoom classes and peer meet ups, with the convenience of self-paced learning.  There is over 24 hours of pre-recorded material including classes being taught by experience teachers. 

The course is suitable for yoga teachers and trainees from all traditions.

The module tutor is Christiane Kerr of Calm for Kids, a senior yoga teacher with over 25 years of teaching and training experience. Christiane is also a qualified mindfulness teacher and author of six children’s yoga books.

2 x 4 hour live Zoom Sessions, 1 x 4.5 live Zoom session.  Plus around 38 hours of online self-paced learning, research, reading and homework.

A short course may be undertaken by any yoga student keen to develop a specific area of learning related to yoga. Some courses are designed for experienced practitioners and yoga teachers only whereas others may be tasters for further training and development. Courses represent a serious commitment to an intensive or medium term of study. The course can be run intensively over a weekend, a week or longer depending on the overall aims and intended learning outcomes. A short course can be as short as a 12 hour training over a weekend up to 60 hours over a 6 month period or longer. Stated. Please apply to the tutor directly for a student prospectus where suitability and entry criteria for any given course will be clearly stated. Courses may meet one or more of the following needs- Personal Development: Students will undertake a course of learning to enhance their own practice. Improve Teacher Skills: A short course may provide specialist training just for Yoga teachers. Some courses include assessments where student teachers are observed applying their new skills. Working with Vulnerable people: Courses that focus on working with vulnerable people will usually have some kind of assessment element. These courses may involve working with Children or Vulnerable adults. Students may be expected to hold a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate and a Safeguarding Certificate as a pre-course requirement unless it is part of the training itself. Please check the student prospectus carefully before applying. Credit towards a BWYQ Diploma: Some Progression courses may be delivered in a modular format. These short courses are designed to generate valid, relevant and sufficient evidence which can be used as RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) towards the completion of a BWYT or BWYQ Diploma in Yoga teaching.
