Training Introduction

This training programme will combine Yin yoga and The Functional Approach to enable teachers to teach their students from an aspect of how the student feels rather than how they look.

The programme will focus on anatomy, skeletal and muscular, meridian channels, and mindfulness meditation practices.

The programme is designed for qualified or trainee yoga teachers.

The benefits of understanding the human body anatomically will enable teachers to look at themselves and their students from a different perspective – functionally as opposed to aesthetically. It will also enable teachers to encourage their students to how they feel in a pose. This can be both physical, mental and from a feeling tone.

How the Training Works

The course aims and outcomes are: -

  • To understand how individual human anatomy influences all yoga poses.
  • To understand and be able to teach yin yoga from a functional perspective.
  • To equip yoga teachers with the knowledge of the 7-archetypal yin poses (this training covers the 5 lower body yin poses) and their alternatives.
  • Equip yoga teachers to understand the musculoskeletal effects of a yin yoga practice.
  • To understand the 6 lower body meridians and their function when in a yin yoga pose.

The course learning outcomes are: -

  • Students will have learnt the bones and muscles of the human body.
  • Students will have learnt the 5-archetypal yin poses and their alternatives.
  • Students will have learnt the 6 lower body meridian channels and their functions.
  • Students will have learnt basic mindfulness and meditation practices.
  • Students will be able to teach yin yoga by looking at the body functionally.
