Our short courses may be undertaken by any yoga student keen to develop a specific area of learning related to yoga. Some courses are designed for experienced practitioners and yoga teachers only whereas others may be tasters for further training and development. Short courses represent a serious commitment to an intensive or medium term of study.

The course can be run intensively over a weekend, a week or longer depending on the overall aims and intended learning outcomes. The course can be as short as a 12 hour training over a weekend up to 60 hours over a 6 month period or longer. Please apply to the tutor directly for a student prospectus where suitability and entry criteria for any given course will be clearly stated.

Short courses may meet one or more of the following needs:

- Personal Development: Students will undertake a course of learning to enhance their own practice.

- Improve Teacher Skills: A course may provide specialist training just for Yoga teachers. Some include assessments where student teachers are observed applying their new skills.

- Working with Vulnerable people: Modules that focus on working with vulnerable people will usually have some kind of assessment element.

These courses may involve working with Children or Vulnerable adults. Students may be expected to hold a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate and a Safeguarding Certificate as a pre-course requirement unless it is part of the training itself. Please check the student prospectus carefully before applying.

Training Introduction

Polyvagal Informed Restorative Yoga (15hr + 5hrs case study and mentor feedback) with Judy Hirsh Sampath

Description – What do you desire for your students/clients - to feel safe in your space and leave feeling relaxed, calm and restored? To feel healthy, whole and healed?

Restorative yoga is an effective tool to release held tension and the heavy weight of what we carry in our bodies physically, mentally and emotionally. However, it is of vital importance  as a facilitator to understand that releasing, softening and letting go is not always appropriate or desirable.

In this programme for yoga teachers, yoga therapists and other health providers, you will gain skills in creating as much safety as possible for students/clients to reach a regulated state of being. When you show up as a confident and knowledgeable leader and settled in your own nervous system, your students/clients are able to build trust, co-regulate with you, and take your hand as well as the support of the props.

You will gain more confidence and knowledge - in planning and preparing with clear intentions, to look after your own nervous system be when meeting the unexpected, and holding space for restorative practice in classes and 1:1 settings.

Application of appropriate asana, pranayama, visualisation and meditation to meet different nervous system states will be explored. Through technical demonstrations, trauma sensitive language and cues, philosophical discussion, and guided practice, you will reinforce what you already know, and learn new skills.
