Training Introduction
I (Susie Dennis), will be your course tutor. Coming from a science background, and new technology start ups. I have a P.G.C.E teaching secondary and F.E. Sciences. I gained my M.B.A. and have an interest in a training company delivery to the Construction Sector.
The yoga path I have travelled is long as it is broad. Having been drawn to Ashtanga, I continued with Forrest Yoga. I am a Yoga Alliance teacher in addition to the BWY Dip TT. I have taken further teacher trainings, with Uma Dindsmore Tuli, Yoga for Pregnancy, Womb Yoga, Yoga Nidra. The Minded Institute, Yoga for Anxiety and Yoga for Depression, in addition to the Teaching of Chair Yoga. I am also a Yoga Therapist though Yoga Campus.
The British Wheel of Yoga Diplma course does take a long time! That is the whole point. It allows time for you to develop their own personal approach to sharing yoga. Time to delve deeper into topics that ignite their passion. While allowing you to be in constant touch with your BWY tutor.
You will be delivering your own Beginners Course during the latter half of the first year. Guided through lessons plans, full 10 week course plan, marketing, pricing, client servicing. How to theme your lessons, and your course.
In a standard yoga class, you will be presented with a cross section of the public, each individual will be in class for a whole host of reasons. You will be given the tools to deal with all presentations of a varying degrees issues. The uniqueness of the 'staged approach', allows your students to access a range of variations and modifications which will be appropriate for them.
During this course you will be taught anatomy, relaxations, meditations, history of yoga, learn about the styles of yoga. Yoga philosophy and how to thread the models of yoga through you own classes, and one to ones.
The course is frustrating at times, hard work, and rigorous. You will learn how to use the teachings of yoga to get through. You will however have laughter, lightness, fun, and come out with all the tools to be the very best teacher of yoga you can be.
How the Training Works
The British Wheel of Yoga teacher training, not only teaches you more about yoga, but also how to teach.
You will be taught anatomy, physiology, concentration techniques, relaxation techniques, meditation, history of yoga, and yoga philosophy.
You will also learn how to teach, how to access your students different leaning styles, learn what are the different learning styles. How to write a lesson plan. In that lesson plan you will gain knowledge of contra-indications, benefits of postures and practices. The detail of which will never leave you. Enabling you to be one of those teachers that can offer an alternative or varation to a member of your class seamlessly.
The course is broken down into in-person sessions and zoom sessions.
Sessions of the classes will be recorded for access later to refresh learning.
The retreat will be held from Friday late afternoon, to Sunday afternoon, in the Lake Dirstrict. This will give the opportunity to enjoy the scenery, while emersing yourself in the practices.
Assessment of the course is via written work, and teaching practices. This will be done in a staged approach, where you teach small amounts and build up slowly over time. The advantage of this is that you are allowed to develop you own personal teaching approach, while ensuring your students safety.
