Tutor information
With a background in biological sciences, Claire’s interest in yoga began in 2003 when she started full time work. The challenge to body and mind became the perfect way to release from days spent writing reports. She trained to be a teacher in 2007 with Zoe Knott and Bob Insley and continues to draw on their strong yet explorative approach.
How the Training Works
Teaching methods: You will be asked to complete reading in advance of course days where there will be a mixture of short presentations, group discussions and exercises to develop teaching skills in a supportive environment.
Assessment: The course is non-graded with the emphasis on competence to teach yoga. Formal assessments include worksheets, written assignments (which can be presented in various ways), peer teaching, diary of personal pranayama practice and observed class teaching. As well as formal tasks, informal tasks will be set that may be in the form of group work, pair work or individual home study.
You will be required to record at least 30 hours of planning content, teaching and reflective evaluation. You can begin teaching when you feel ready, after discussion with your course tutor, and must keep a record of all your teaching during the course.
