Description
You are very welcome to join us for this new event, aimed at encouraging those who are new to yoga, to join their more experienced friends in sharing the joy together.
You may be a new or long-term devotee of yoga, or even a yoga teacher, who knows someone who would benefit from experiencing yoga for themselves. Have they always wanted to try, but never had the confidence to attend a class? Or perhaps they feel they lack the flexibility or strength required ? Or do they simply believe they won’t be good at it ? This is your opportunity to give your friend the gift of yoga, to challenge preconceived ideas and to discover and practice together in a supportive and caring environment.
You just need to book yourself a place and then bring your friend along with you on the day … And the best part is… Your friend comes for FREE !
No matter how much experience we have, it’s good to go back to the beginning and practice yoga with a beginner’s mind.
We will start the morning with a practice that focuses our attention on sensations within our bodies, as we move with care and awareness of deeper places within, aiming to unravel tension and find fluidity and ease. This is a journey that demands our interest in the simple things: our breath, our body and ourselves.
We will discuss the role yoga has within the life we lead today, relating aspects of yoga philosophy, helping us to develop an understanding of our reactions and our responses.
We will include a breath practice, developing into mindful attention on the present moment, to bring us to a state of wellbeing and relaxation by the end of the morning.
We are sure this will be a positive and happy morning for all… beginning for the first time or beginning again…..
Once you’re booked on, just send the name and email address of your friend (with their agreement) to Jo Thomas at east.eessexrep@bwyregions.org.uk. Jo will make sure you’re both on the register for the day and send you both further details around 10 days before the event
If you have any questions about the event, you are very welcome to email Jo Thomas - east.eessexrep@bwyregions.org.uk
Additional Information
Our Teacher – Donna Negus
Yoga is a constant influence in Donna’s life and she believes wholeheartedly in the wellbeing it can bring us, whether we are newcomers or old hands. With over 35 years’ yoga experience, teaching local classes, retreats and workshops, Donna has introduced numerous beginners to the life enhancing effects of yoga. Her kind and compassionate style is perfect for any level of experience. She is profoundly influenced by the insights of yoga pioneer, Vanda Scaravelli, particularly in the way we can find contact with ourselves as we are, underpinned by the deep-seated knowledge that our bodies respond to care and not force.
What to Bring
Both you and your friend will need to bring a yoga mat and any cushions or blocks you usually use in your practice. We will have a short break during the morning, so you may wish to bring a snack. Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided. The hall can be a little chilly first thing in the morning, so it's best to wear layers.
