Description

This event is now fully booked BUT we have arranged a repeat on 24 January 2026 so you can book on that instead. Any problems booking it please contact Central Office (office @bwy.org.uk) .

A significant percentage of lower back problems stem from the sacroiliac joints. Yoga practitioners – and teachers – are not immune to niggles, pain or injury in this area. The way we practise may even exacerbate existing sensitivities.

Join us on this CPD day to gain a practical understanding of why there are sacroiliac joint vulnerabilities (on and off the mat), how we can support healthy function – for ourselves and students - and why male and female distinctions together with stages of life are relevant. We will see how to offer helpful yoga practices and how to avoid what is unhelpful. Guided by beautiful yoga philosophy and a whole-body approach, we will explore a balanced combination of practices to stabilise, align, strengthen and lengthen where needed and rest, in order to facilitate safe, sustainable and fulfilling yoga for the long-term.

Collaboration, warmth and intuition are at the heart of Carol’s teaching. She encourages inquiry, autonomy and the natural unveiling of each individual’s inner guide. She began practising yoga over 30 years ago and offers CPD days, a BWY Module in restorative yoga and contributes to teacher trainings. Other certifications include yoga nidra (Bihar and iRest), sports massage therapy and injury prevention. She is experienced in working with hypermobility and with adults with neurodiversity. Originally a linguist, she has a special interest in cultures, the human condition and contemplative practice.
