Description

Many people are unable to participate in a traditional mat based yoga class, and chair yoga offers a practical solution by finding ways to reduce complicated manoeuvres and movements to simpler, user-friendly procedures. Richard Kravetz's popular Chair Yoga workshop will provide the necessary tools to enable you to teach Chair Yoga to people with reduced mobility due to the effects of aging or disability.  You will explore different ideas and concepts to help guide the less-abled towards maintaining a safe degree of exercise and movement and promote health & independence with a view to a healthier outlook.

The morning will focus on a variety of sitting Chair stretches and movements for people with reduced mobility or physical restrictions which may include the Elderly, Dementia, Stroke, MS, ME and a host of other conditions related to this population.

The afternoon will explore a variety of standing stretches, movements and sequences using a Chair which are more suitable for people with a greater degree of mobility but who have some limited restrictions which make a Mat based class unsuitable.  You will also discover how a chair can be used effectively as a prop to enhance well known yoga postures which form part of a main-stream yoga session.
