Description
We are taking a journey through the language of Sanskrit and linking our understanding of the Sanskrit words with asana postures. As part of the session you will look at the history and influence of Sanskrit, consider the sound and pronunciation of Sanskrit vowels and contemplate on their meaning and use. There will be chance to practice and discuss poses and their Sanskrit meaning.
The Sanskit part of this session will be led by John Mercer who has been studying Indian philosophy and meditation for over 40 years. The yoga asana part of this session will be led by yoga teacher Kate Lemon.
The day will consist of:
An 11 am start with an introduction to Sanskrit with John Mercer and followed by a session of asana provided by Kate Lemon.
A light lunch will be provided and if weather permits a short walk in the Suffolk countryside.
After lunch there will be a further session of Sanskit and asana practice before closing at 3 pm.
You do not need to have any experience of Sanskrit and the session is suitable for anyone who has an interest in finding out more about Sanskrit language. You may remember that John and Kate held an earlier event in May. This October session focuses on a slightly different aspect and is not identical but if you came before it may give you the chance to recap on what you learnt.
The session is being held in the comfort of John's home in Great Glenham in Suffolk and so numbers are limited to eight. Details of how to get there will be provided nearer the day of the event.
