Description

BWY NORTH REGIONAL MEETING

The Regional Meeting will this year be held only on Zoom. It is open to all regional BWY members and while it is being held to allow election of committee members (who need to put themselves forward for election every two years) it will also be an opportunity for members to meet the committee and to ask any questions they would like to. There is no charge to attend the event.

All nomination forms will be loaded to this meetings' resources tab, if you would like to see who is standing for each position, you will need to book onto the event. As the event is on Zoom, 100 places are available.

Communication

If you have a question about the Regional Meeting please contact your Regional Officer, Jacqueline Stevenson on: north.ro@bwyregions.org.uk.

Role descriptions and Nominations

At the regional meeting, nominations for each of the following roles may be raised. Where someone is in post they only need to be re-elected every two years. The roles with people in post are shown in the list below. Regardless of that, if you want to stand for any role, whether someone is in post or not, you would be most welcome.

We would love to hear from you to discuss the possibilities and hopefully to welcome you to the committee. There are forms to fill in if you wish to stand; for further details contact the RO on north.ro@bwyregions.org.uk

If there are any elections, you will be asked to raise any objections for sole nominations to roles, or vote, by a show of hands, for your preferred nomination where multiple nominations have been received for a particular role. You are welcome to stand for any role that you feel you would be able to do.

All the role descriptions (except for Festival Organiser) can be found on the BWY website. To view them log into your account and look under

My Resources/Regional volunteer resources / Regional meeting and elections/Nomination forms & role descriptions.

IWe would also love to welcome anyone who would want to deputise one of these roles, perhaps with a view to taking it up in the future or to step up when the main role holder is not available. You do not need to be elected to be a deputy for a role, just let the committee know that you are interested.

Nomination process

Any nominations for roles must be received at least ten days prior to the Regional Meeting and therefore no later than 16th April 2026.

Anyone wishing to nominate themselves must complete a nomination application form which can be downloaded from the BWY website following the same path as above. The form you would need to stand is 'Regional Volunteer nomination and co-option form'.

All completed forms must be returned by the closing date to the BWY North Regional Officer,

Jacqueline Stevenson at north.ro@bwyregions.org.uk

Voting procedure

The Chair of the meeting will be the incumbent Regional Officer or another incumbent Committee member who will act as meeting chair.
Each of the roles will be announced in turn and members present will be asked to either show objections or vote by a show of hands.
If any role has more than one nomination then the Regional Officer will give each person 48 hours notice and invite them to speak for up to a maximum of five minutes and the candidates will be announced in turn with a show of hands being counted for each candidate (at the discretion of the Chair).

Results will be by a majority of one or more.
Results will be announced at the meeting and on the BWY North page: https://www.bwy.org.uk/community/north/
