This workshop is for yoga teachers and experienced practitioners keen to: 

  • Gain further knowledge and understanding of symptoms of a variety of mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, trauma, eating disorders, OCD, bi-polar, addictions, psychosis, and personality disorders
  • Be more adept in assessing mental health and possible root causes
  • Be able to differentiate between exhaustion, stress, burnout, chronic fatigue and long covid
  • Learn how to maintain the health and safety of students with mental health conditions as well as other students in yoga class and yourself as a teacher
  • Explore a variety of yoga asana practices to help regulate symptoms of mental health conditions
  • Explore a variety of yoga breathing practices and traditional pranayamas to encourage a balanced flow of prana to stabilize mood and energy levels
  • Be more adept in choosing appropriate yoga therapy and mindfulness practices to help a person manage their mental health throughout daily life
  • Consider how to enhance vihara, lifestyle management, to improve self-confidence, self-esteem and self-identity, through integrating yoga practices and philosophies into daily life
  • Know when to signpost a student onto other professions.

Nikki Jackson is the principal of a 550hr Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Course, accredited by the British Council of Yoga Therapy and approved by The British Wheel of Yoga.  She runs the Mental Health and Trauma module of the training course exploring how yoga models and practices can support people with mental health conditions in daily life.  She has been teaching yoga and yoga therapy privately and within NHS for over 30 years. She has worked in NHS mental health and forensic psychiatry both as a yoga therapist and lead occupational therapist for many years.  She has been a BWY module and CPD trainer since 2016 and is a Mindfulness teacher and Coach. She runs her own Yoga Therapy consultancy practice in West Oxfordshire, helping people to manage variety of mental health conditions.

This is a Hybrid event, please book as required.

There’s no dedicated parking for the Old Chapel, but free on-street parking is available around Gotherington. Please avoid parking on the junction directly outside the Chapel.

Bring a packed lunch if you can - there is a local shop nearby if needed. Teas and coffees will be provided.
